Dear Brother Priests, Deacons/Subdeacons,

I write to inform you of some important changes concerning the operation of the Tribunal of the Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn.

As you know, Monsignor Francis J. Marini has retired from his position as Judicial Vicar, after many years of generous and dedicated service to the Eparchy. In addition, the Tribunal of the Diocese of Scranton, which for many years graciously provided hospitality and administrative support to our Tribunal, has informed us that it is no longer able to continue this arrangement. We remain deeply grateful to the Diocese of Scranton and its Tribunal personnel for the assistance and fraternal cooperation they have extended to us over the years.

These developments provide us with an opportunity to restructure the Tribunal and establish a new operational pattern that will allow it to function more directly under the auspices of the Eparchy.

Accordingly, I have appointed Chorbishop John D. Faris, J.C.O.D., as Judicial Vicar; Rev. Elie G. Kairouz, J.C.L., as Adjutant Judicial Vicar; and Mr. James Salamy as Tribunal Administrator.

The canonical seat of the Tribunal will be at the Eparchial Chancery in Brooklyn. However, in order to facilitate the Tribunal's day-to-day operations, all correspondence and case-related materials should be sent to the following mailing address:

As part of this new operational structure, general inquiries, questions concerning the status or administration of cases, and routine correspondence should ordinarily be directed by email to Mr. Salamy, who will serve as the principal administrative point of contact for the Tribunal. Matters requiring the attention of the Judicial Vicar or Adjutant Judicial Vicar will then be referred to them as appropriate.

I ask for your patience and cooperation as this new structure is implemented. Our goal is to provide the clergy and faithful of the Eparchy with a Tribunal that is accessible, responsive, and attentive to both the requirements of canon law and the pastoral needs of those whom we serve.

I am grateful to Chorbishop Faris, Father Kairouz, and Mr. Salamy for their willingness to undertake these responsibilities, and I express once again our sincere gratitude to Monsignor Marini and to the Tribunal of the Diocese of Scranton for their many years of devoted service and assistance.
