Dear Brother Priests, Deacons, Subdeacons, Religious and Lay Faithful,

Chorbishop Joseph Lahoud entered peacefully into eternal life on July 16, 2025, after a long life of service and dedication to the Church and her people, and after having received the last sacraments.

Born in Qartaba, Lebanon on March 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Farid and Olga (Souhaid) Lahoud. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother Emilie and his sister Youmna. He is survived by his brother Fattan and his sister Nawal, who was ever by his side. In 1953. he began his college education at St. Joseph's University in Beirut where he obtained a degree in theology. Just a few years later, on April 12, 1959, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Joseph Khoury.

Chorbishop Lahoud's first assignment was m 1961 at Saint Maron Church in Torrington, Connecticut. Nine years later, in 1970, Archbishop Zayek appointed him Pastor of Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1982 Chorbishop Lahoud was elevated to Monsignor, on March 22, 1986 he was ordained Chorbishop by Archbishop Zayek.

Chorbishop Lahoud remained at Our Lady of the Cedars as Pastor until 2010 when he retired. He remained in the Boston area and was as active as he could be with the parish. He is well known to many Lebanese who came to the parish over the years after first arriving to the Boston area. He would help them any way he could.

Visitation for Chorbishop Lahoud will be on Wednesday July 23, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with the Ginnaz for Priests at 7 :30pm at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Church, 61 Rockwood Street I Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Priests are asked to vest in jibbie and eparchial white stole.

On Thursday July 24, 2025, there will be a visitation from 9:30am 10:30am, at the parish with the Divine Liturgy at 11 :O0am, followed by the Burial and then a Mercy Meal at the Parish Hall.

Please remember Chorbishop Lahoud in the Divine Liturgy. On behalf of the Eparchy of Saint Maron, Clergy, Religious and Lay Faithful, 1 offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and to all who loved him.
