Dear Brother Priests, Deacons and Subdeacons, Consecrated Men and Women, Lay Faithful,
In the Catholic Church in the United States, National Vocation Awareness Week is celebrated this year, November 1-7, 2026. It is an annual week-long dedicated to promoting vocations to the ordained ministry and consecrated life through prayer, intentional invitation, accompaniment and education.
In our Maronite Church, we have the Consecration and Dedication of the Church on November 1st and 8th. During these two Sundays I ask that each parish focus on the different vocations of the priesthood, religious life, marriage and the generous single life.
Below are some suggestions and resources to assist you to promote vocations:
Share information on the four vocations in the Church, and in particular offer some practical tips on hearing God’s call to the priesthood and religious life. See Vocation Curriculum for ideas and vocation lessons to share with children and families.
Encourage families to learn more about the different vocations, and invite them to use our Prayer for Vocations (see attached) and to take the icon of the Holy Family (this was mailed to your parish in 2024) home for a week to pray daily for vocations as a family.
Promote the different religious communities in our Eparchy of Saint Maron: the Maronite Monks of Adoration in Petersham MA and the Maronite Servants of Christ the Light in Dartmouth MA. Encourage our young adults to visit and contact them with their questions.
Offer a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our Maronite Church, along with Confession.
Let us continue to faithfully witness and cultivate vocations with joy to the holy priesthood, religious life, married life and the generous single life in our Eparchy. Thank you for your prayerful support and especially for those discerning their vocations.
