Fifth Week of Great Lent, Sunday of the Healing of the Paralytic

Fifth Week of Great Lent, Sunday of the Healing of the Paralytic

March 27, 2022

O Christ, mediator between the Father and ourselves, you have taken our nature upon yourself and made known to us the mystery of your divine nature.

You pardoned the sins of the paralytic and healed his illness. he carried his litter and walked away glorifying God.

Forgive also our sins and engrave your teachings on our hearts, then we shall follow you joyfully, carry our cross and thank you, your Father, and your Holy Spirit, for ever.

Amen.

From the Prayer of the Faithful, Ramsho for Sunday of the Paralytic.

Gabriel the Archangel

Gabriel the Archangel

March 26, 2022

It is the custom of the Eastern Churches to continue the celebration of the memorial of a saint on the day following his feast. This is why we celebrate today the memorial of the Archangel Gabriel who bore the announcement of the incarnation to the Virgin Mary, our Mother. The name Gabriel is a Hebrew word which signifies "the strength of God". May God, through the intercession of his angel, strengthen us so that we may serve him. Amen.

Feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin

Feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin

March 25, 2022

The Maronite calendar commemorates this feast twice during the year: today and on the Second Sunday of Announcement. Today's feast goes back to the fourth century, when it was decided to celebrate Christmas on December 25th; the Annunciation was naturally celebrated nine months before. This is a great feast in both the East and the West since it recalls the mystery of the incarnation of the Son of God in the womb of the Virgin. May the prayers of the Blessed Virgin protect us. Amen.

Act of Conformity

O Our Lord Jesus Christ, we dedicate ourselves to Your Divine and Trustful Will, and willingly accept from Your Hand sickness, tribulation and death the way You want and when You want. O Our Beloved Jesus, all we desire is to accomplish Your Good Will now and always in all places and at all times.

We beseech You, through your love for Your Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary, and for Saint Joseph, Your chosen Just One, and through the wound of Your RIGHT HAND, to grant us Your Grace, so we may live and die with it.

Amen.

Fourth Week of Great Lent, Sunday of the Parable of the Prodigal Son

Fourth Week of Great Lent, Sunday of the Parable of the Prodigal Son

March 20, 2022

Qolo

The younger son dares to ask for his inheritance and leaves for a distant country, far away from his father. The world and its illusions seduce him and he wanders away from the right path.

The Father of heaven receives the repentant sinner with kindness he opens his arms to him and embraces him.

Happy the one who repents of his sins; blessed be the name of the merciful One who forgives sins.

Psalm of the readings

The true love of the father
far surpassed his son's great sin.
He ran out to embrace him
when at last his son came home.

"I have sinned against heaven
and before you" said the son.
"Though my heart now condemns me,
you are greater than my heart."

Lord our God, you accepted
what the just had offered you;
now accept, in your mercy,
our pure sacrifice and prayers.

Third Week of Great Lent, Sunday of the Healing of the Hemorrhaging Woman

Third Week of Great Lent, Sunday of the Healing of the Hemorrhaging Woman

March 14, 2022

OPENING PRAYER

Jesus Christ our Lord, you are almighty and have power over the universe. To the crowd pressing uponyou, you said: "Power has gone out from me." Then to the hemorrhaging woman who was healed by touching the fringe of your clothes, you said: "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace." Now we ask you to heal us from every sin, that we may stand with purity before you all the days of our lives. We raise glory and thanks to you, to your Father, and to your Holy Spirit, for ever.

From the Maronite Divine Liturgy for the Third Sunday of Great Lent.

Second Week of Lent, Sunday of the Leper

March 6 — March 12

Christ our God, we ask you this [week] to extend your hand to us and bless your people and your inheritance. Like the leper, we call upon you. Lord if you desire, you can purify us of our sins and faults. If you wish, O Lord, you can make us living temples where you dwell, and we shall be your witnesses and spread your word. Cure us of passions of the soul and earthly inclinations, purify us of hidden vices which hold us; and grant that our intentions may be pure for your glory and praise.

Saint John Maron

Saint John Maron

March 2

Prayer of Forgiveness

From the Book of Offering, Saint John Maron (March 2)

O Christ our God, Sun of Justice and Light of the Father, in your humility you taught us and gave us a perfect example of service. As we celebrate today the feast of our father, Saint John Maron, by meditating on his way of life and following his example, we cry out, proclaiming:

Blessed are you, Saint John Maron, for you began a blessed era in the history of our Church when you became our first patriarch. Blessed are you, for you inspired hearts and minds, by your teaching and example, and confirmed believers in the true faith. Blessed are you, for you were pleased to go to Lebanon to serve and guide your people. Blessed are you, for you fought the good fight for your people: you cared for the sick and the poor, and you established churches and monasteries, strengthening the holy Catholic faith, until God called you, in the state of holiness, to his heavenly kingdom.

Now, O Christ our God, we ask you, through the intercession of our father Saint John Maron, and with the fragrance of this incense, to confirm the children of your holy Church in the true faith and to keep away all divisions and strife from her.

With your Mother Mary, our father Saint John Maron, and all our holy fathers, make us worthy to meet you in your heavenly kingdom, that we may raise glory and thanks to you, to your Father, and to your Holy Spirit, for ever.

Amen.

The Week of the Entrance into Lent

The Week of the Entrance into Lent

February 27 — March 5

Prayer of Forgiveness

O Christ, Lover of all people, you gave the Church the holy season of Lent as a shield of protection and a healing remedy. Your fasting and sacrifices taught us to fast, and to understand the purpose and essence of life, the meaning of the world and its existence, and the greatness of your love and compassion. Shower your mercy on all people that they may repent, and soften their hearts that they may return to you, know you, and love you.

During these forty days of Lent, may we meditate on the benefits of fasting and prayer. Through fasting and prayer souls are made pure, bodies are made chaste, spirits are uplifted, passions are restrained, mercy abounds, and the Holy Spirit dwells in the soul that was created to be the temple of God.

I Yearn For Your Pardon, O Lord

I yearn for your pardon, O Lord, give me tears to repent in this Season of Lent. Lord have mercy.

I beg for your favors, O Lord, for your mercy I thirst, for your kindness and love. Lord, have mercy.

Against you, O Lord, I have sinned, hear the cry of my voice; turn your ear to my prayer. Lord, forgive me.

O wash me, O Lord, from my guilt; purify me and I shall be whiter than snow. Lord, forgive me.

O Jesus our Lord and our God, you have saved all your flock in your mercy and love. O Good Shepherd!

You came to return all the sheep who had wandered and strayed from the love of our God. O Good Shepherd!

O Lord, at the beginning of this holy Lent,
grant us to contemplate of your signs and to sing of your glory.
Look upon us in your love and have mercy on us in your goodness.
We shall embrace penance and find strength in prayer,

and giving glory to the Holy Trinity, one God, now and for ever.
